Byron Bay

Byron Bay is a town 30 minutes north east of Lismore known for it’s beach and hang chill atmosphere. I’ve been to Byron 4 or 5 times now, so it has to be good. A few of those times were to get picked up to go to 7 mile, but all the same. The cafes are great, I got a whole $12 breakfast from a place called Twisted Sista from someone who had 2 bites and left the plate!
It is the beach that makes Byron worth comin’ back for. Drum circles beat by the beach for hours and hours, eventually a guitar or two will chime in. The best jam band contained a clarinet, flute/recorder, two guitars, a snare and a few bongos. Every once in a while someone added in a few soul lyrics and vocals. Everyone is welcome to join these magical music gatherings.
I found out yesterday that there are also dubstep shows every other week in byron, totally hittin’ that up. Of course we ventured to Cheeky Monkeys, a bar that locals hate and backpackers love. People travelling from all over the world come to dance on tables (seeing as there is no dance floor), strip on stage for prizes and attempt to drunkenly get in without getting kicked out. The bouncers are very strict and can be really harsh. I LOST MY WATERBOTTLE UUHH at cheeky monkeys.
Byron is a chill town with a growing amount of tourists and plenty of places to get a great cuppa. I’ll be going back much more, and taking better pictures next time.
