Nearly every sunday morning, Lismorians and people around the area gather together for a fun afternoon of craft markets. There are monthly markets in Byron Bay, The Channon, Bangalow and Lismore (All within 1/2 hour or less of where I live). These pictures are from the Channon Markets, where I bought two fabulous pieces from the lovely lady in the last picture. She designs her own clothes and has them handmade by friends in Bali. There are many jewelers and cutting board makers, but also fun things like candle making and scrumptious raw desserts.
I gorged myself on tasty festival food, which is all made by locals who grow many of their own ingredients. Think organic fresh chocolate-covered strawberries and homemade pizza, not funnel cakes and hot dogs. Heaps of little kids run around the market with their brand new fairy wings and hand-dipped candles. I even met a man who makes wooden flutes and clarinets, and is going to let me make my own! Could be a highlight of the whole trip.
