Over the river and through the woods, to Darren’s farm we go.  Last weekend Carly and I were fortunate enough to experience the land in the Channon where Chance, Cody, Rayne, Scotty and Adam are staying.  We helped out with the kids, ate an amazing vegan dinner made by the mother and partner Polyana, fed the ducks, washed dishes, and played music around the fire under the stars and moon.  We hung out with Kundi, Anara and Tashi the whole afternoon and early evening.  Little children with Ozzie accents melt my heart, especially ones which have lived on the land their whole lives and know how to take care of chickens and never wear shoes.  Anara is only 8 months old but smiles every time she sees her brothers fighting or gets to eat food from the garden.  Kundi is a wonder child.  He plays the recorder every other week at the Channon market and makes around $100 every time, quite a feat for a 9 year old.  Tashi is 5 years old and was the first one I met of the family. He immediately showed me around the entire place and all the work the bras have been doin for the past month.  Darren and Polyana have lived on the land for 5 years now and have made an amazing amount of progress since then.  Built a bathroom complete with a bathtub and solar shower a washer and dryer, the ‘loveshack’ where they live in until finishing the large house they have been working on for the past year or two, a pool, 2 sheds and in the progress of building a temple.  The buildings are strawbale-based and covered in clay from the land.  It’s a beautiful peace of land that overlooks the Channon with not a road or building in site.  The place is completely off the grid with solar energy, rainwater system for all plumbing and water, composting, a pool and other little projects.

Working and experiencing the land with this family has been a great inspiration for me to learn more skills about how to live holistically keeping in mind the earth, people and spirit.  The bras do yoga every morning now, sleep in a decked out old bus and sometimes under the stars, and work 8 hours a day to help Darren fulfill his dreams of this place.

oh yeah and we went to 7 mile beach again haha.
